Thanks to The Rutland Herald for featuring the story about our organization's recent name change and 40th birthday milestone!
Thanks to Mrs. Clement and her Family and Consumer Science students for their hard work preparing nutritious, home-cooked meals for our community members!
Slate Valley Cares (formerly "Fair Haven Concerned") just got a new website! Ready to bookmark a new URL? Here it is: www.slatevalleycares.org
The new website is the first in a series of digital infrastructure updates at Slate Valley Cares. We're working diligently to implement physical, digital, and organizational systems to keep operations moving smoothly and growing to meet the rising demand for SVC services.
Interested in volunteering with Slate Valley Cares? We'd love your help!
There is not a minimum hours requirement for volunteering, although we encourage adopting a regular schedule (of any frequency) just for your own ease of scheduling.
Areas of volunteering include:
Right to Food Center (stocking shelves, checking out groceries, greeting visitors, tidying up)
Thrift Shop (receiving and sorting donations, organizing the shop, greeting visitors)
Delivery Drivers and Backup Drivers (help transport food deliveries from a variety of sites in Rutland County, back to SVC)
Everyone Eats Cooks (cook batches of meals for the Everyone Eats program)
Slate Valley Cares now welcomes online donations!
Online donations are facilitated by a platform called Givebutter, which is free for both donors and SVC to use. Tips are optional and go directly to Givebutter. Donations may be made on a one-time, monthly, or annual basis. Donations are tax-deductible.
Slate Valley Cares continues to graciously accept cash and check donations, either mailed or delivered in-person at the following address:
49 Main St.
Fair Haven, VT 05743In 2023, Slate Valley Cares observed a significant growth in demand for services, requiring an increase in sustained organizing and fundraising efforts to support community aid services and expanded service areas.
For the first time ever, Slate Valley Cares humbly invites VT-based Annual Sponsors to join in partnership of Slate Valley community aid services. This initiative aims to secure more reliable annual funding for SVC operations, while offering genuine benefits for Corporate and Community partners.
We are incredibly grateful for our Corporate and Community Sponsors.
We thank Rutland Magazine for featuring Slate Valley Cares in the Winter 2023 publication! We found the piece beautifully written and photographed. Cheers!
